Low TikTok views usually come down to one of three things: people scroll away early, so the video sends weak signals; the video reuses material without adding anything new; or the video has been marked ineligible for the For You feed under TikTok's rules. Follower count is not the problem on its own. TikTok says follower count and past hits are not direct factors in what it recommends. If you are getting 0 views, also check that your account is public and that the video has finished review. Check your analytics first, then fix the cause that fits.

How TikTok decides who sees your video

Most views come from the For You feed, which ranks videos mainly on what viewers do (likes, shares, comments, follows), with video details such as captions, sounds and hashtags, and device and account settings carrying less weight. Our guide on how to get on the For You page explains these signals in full.

Strong signals count for more than weak ones. TikTok's own example is a viewer who watches a longer video all the way to the end. That is why watch time matters so much. A video people finish tells TikTok it is worth showing to more people.

TikTok also says the feed mixes things up on purpose. It generally avoids showing two videos in a row with the same sound or from the same creator, and it does not recommend duplicated content or videos someone has already seen.

Why is my TikTok getting 0 views?

Zero views is a different problem from low views. It usually means the video is not being shown to anyone yet, rather than people seeing it and scrolling past. Check these first:

  • It is brand new or under review. TikTok has said that videos that have just been uploaded or are under review may not be recommended yet. Give it a little time.
  • Your account is private. On a private account, only followers you have approved can see your content, so strangers on the For You feed will not see it. Switch to public in your privacy settings if you want to reach new people.
  • Your account is under 16. TikTok's youth safety rules say you need to be 16 or older for your videos to appear in the For You feed.
  • The video is not eligible for the For You feed. Open the video's analytics and look for an eligibility notice. The next section explains what that means.

If none of these fit and your views have dropped across your whole account, our guide to TikTok shadowbans and how to check your account status covers restrictions and appeals in more detail.

1. Your video is not eligible for the For You feed

TikTok keeps some content out of the For You feed even when it is allowed on the app. Its For You feed standards cover content that may not suit a broad audience. Its integrity rules say content is also ineligible if it includes unoriginal or reused material without anything new, or if it tries to push people into inflating likes, follows or gifts. Posts like these can still be found through search or your profile. They just will not be pushed to new viewers.

Low views do not always mean you broke a rule. With analytics turned on in TikTok Studio, a video's insights show a notice if it was made ineligible, with the reason and an Appeal option. Our guide shows how to check if a video is eligible for the For You feed step by step.

2. Your whole account is being held back

If many posts that break the For You feed standards build up, TikTok says it may make the account and its content ineligible for the For You feed and harder to find. Content that is not eligible for the For You feed may also be restricted from monetisation.

Look in your inbox under System notifications, then Account updates. TikTok also lets you review strikes and restrictions under Account status (TikTok's help centre also calls this account check). Strikes for removed content expire after 90 days, according to TikTok's help centre. The fix is slow but simple: stop posting the kind of content that was flagged, appeal anything you think was a mistake, and keep posting content that follows the rules.

3. People scroll past in the first seconds

A weak opening is one of the easiest causes to fix. If people swipe away early, the video never builds the strong signals it needs. In the video's analytics, look at how long people watch on average and how many watch to the end. If most viewers leave right at the start, the hook is the problem.

  • Start with the result, the surprise or the question. Save the intro for later, or cut it.
  • Put a short line of on-screen text in the first frame so people know what the video is about with the sound off.
  • Cut pauses, slow pans and repeated lines. Every second should earn the next one.
  • Make it as long as it needs to be, and no longer. A shorter video people finish is usually better than a longer one they leave early.

4. The content is reused or too similar

Re-uploading clips from films, TV or other creators is a fast way to get few views. TikTok's rules put reused material without anything new outside the For You feed. If you use other footage, add something real: your reaction, your commentary, your own filming or a meaningful edit.

Posting the same idea again and again can also slow things down, because the feed avoids showing viewers too much of the same thing. Try new formats on the topic your audience already likes.

5. Captions, sounds and timing

Captions, sounds and hashtags help TikTok understand what a video is about. Write a plain caption that says what the video shows, and use a few hashtags that actually describe it. Posting when your followers are online can give a video a better first test. Your follower activity in analytics shows when that is, and our guide to the best time to post on TikTok explains how to read it.

Can you reset the TikTok algorithm?

Not as a creator. We could not find any official TikTok setting that resets how your own videos are recommended. TikTok does have a reset, but it works for viewers. Since March 2023, the Refresh your For You feed option lets you see your own feed as if you had just signed up, so the recommendations start again from your new activity. It changes what you watch. It does not change how your videos are shown to other people.

What does reset over time is your strike record, since strikes expire after 90 days. Beyond that, the way back is to post videos that follow the For You feed standards and that people watch to the end. Reposting the same video is unlikely to help, because the feed avoids duplicated content. For ideas on what makes a video travel, see how to go viral on TikTok.

Can buying views fix low views?

Not on their own. Bought views can make a new video look less empty and give it some social proof, but they do not fix a weak hook or a video that is not eligible for the For You feed. TikTok's rules do not allow inflating engagement, and it says it removes fake likes, followers and other inflated signals when it detects them. If you choose to buy TikTok views from Folzora, treat it as a small boost for content that already works, not a replacement for good videos.

Frequently asked questions

Why did my TikTok views suddenly drop?

A sudden drop across many posts can mean your account has been made ineligible for the For You feed after repeated posts that break TikTok's For You feed standards. Check your inbox notifications and Account status. If there is no notice, look at how long people watch in analytics. A weaker opening or a change of format is a common cause.

How do I know if my TikTok video is not eligible for the For You feed?

Turn on analytics in TikTok Studio, open the video's analytics and look for a notification saying the post is ineligible. Tap it to see the reason. If you think it is a mistake, tap Appeal at the top.

Why do my TikTok videos get 0 views?

TikTok has said that newly uploaded videos and videos under review may not be recommended yet, so a short wait at zero can be normal. If every video gets zero, check that your account is public and that you are 16 or older, since younger accounts' videos do not appear in the For You feed. If one video stays at zero, check its analytics for an eligibility notice.

How do I reset my TikTok algorithm?

The Refresh your For You feed option resets what you see as a viewer, not how your videos are shown to others. As a creator, the way back is to post original videos that follow the For You feed standards and hold attention. Strikes for removed content expire after 90 days.

Does follower count affect TikTok views?

Not directly. TikTok says neither follower count nor past high-performing videos are direct factors in its recommendations. Accounts with more followers can still get more views simply because more people follow them.

Does deleting and reposting a TikTok video help?

TikTok does not recommend duplicated content, so posting the same video again is unlikely to help. It is usually better to make a new version with a stronger opening.
