The best time to post on TikTok is just before your own followers are most active, and TikTok shows you when that is. Open TikTok Studio, go to Analytics and check the most active times by hour and day. Big 2026 studies don't agree on one best hour: one favours weekday afternoons, another weekend mornings, a third evenings. For a UK audience, Sprout Social's UK data points to late weekday afternoons and evenings, with Thursday the best day. Use any of these as a starting point and let your own data decide.

How to find your most active times in TikTok Studio

TikTok's Creator Academy says your follower analytics break down your audience's habits by hours and days, so you can see when they are most active. It also describes a "Most active times" view showing when your viewers were active over the last 7 days. Tab names can shift between app versions, so look under both Followers and Viewers.

  1. Open TikTok Studio. In the TikTok app, go to your profile, tap the menu (three lines) and select TikTok Studio. On a computer, open TikTok Studio on the web.
  2. Go to Analytics. Open the Analytics section. On the web it is in the menu on the left.
  3. Check the activity charts. Open the Followers tab and look at activity by hour and by day. If you see a Viewers tab, its most active times chart covers the last 7 days.
  4. Note the peaks. Write down the two or three busiest hours and the busiest days. One week can be noisy, so check again over the next few weeks.
  5. Post a little earlier. Aim to publish about an hour before a peak, so your video is already out when people open the app.

Some third-party guides say the follower charts only fill in once you reach about 100 followers. TikTok doesn't confirm a number on the page we read, so treat that as a rough guide. Until you have enough data, the general patterns below are a fair place to start.

What the 2026 studies say (and why they disagree)

Three social media tool companies published large TikTok timing studies in 2026. Each used different accounts, measures and periods, so the answers don't match.

StudyDataBest times foundWeakest times found
Sprout Social (March 2026)About 2 billion engagements across 307,000 profiles, Nov 2025 to Feb 2026Tuesday to Thursday, 2 pm to 6 pm local timeWeekends, with Sunday the worst day
Metricool (June 2026)About 2.3 million posts from over 92,000 accounts, ranked by viewsEvenings, roughly 6 pm to 8 pm, with 8 pm most common2 am to 4 am
Buffer (September 2026)7.1 million posts, ranked by median engagement rateSunday 9 am, then Monday 1 pm and Sunday 1 pm; Saturday was the top dayAfternoons, 12 pm to 5 pm, on most days (no single worst hour given)
Best posting times reported by 2026 studies. Each uses its own data and method.

Sprout puts afternoons first and Buffer puts them last. Sprout calls Sunday the worst day, while Buffer's single best slot is on a Sunday. That's normal for averages built from different accounts and different measures (Metricool counts views, the other two engagement). Your audience may look nothing like theirs.

There is little the three agree on, and none of them suggests posting in the middle of the night. The practical takeaway is to use one of these slots as a first guess, then let your own analytics decide.

Posting for an audience in another time zone

If your followers live somewhere else, plan around their clock, not yours. TikTok Studio shows the top locations of your followers and viewers. Find your main country there, then convert your target hour.

Best time to post on TikTok in the UK

Sprout Social also published UK-only figures, based on 25 million UK TikTok engagements. It found the best windows were Wednesdays from 3 pm to 11 pm, and Mondays and Thursdays from 4 pm to midnight, listed in UK time (GMT, or BST in summer). Thursday was its best day in the UK and Saturday its worst. So for a UK audience, weekday evenings are a sensible first test.

  • Clock changes: UK clocks go forward on the last Sunday in March and back on the last Sunday in October.
  • UK and Europe: Germany and France change their clocks on the same dates, so they stay one hour ahead of the UK all year. One evening slot usually works for both.
  • UK and US together: a post in the early evening UK time lands around lunchtime or early afternoon on the US East Coast.

Best time to post on TikTok in the US

None of the three studies above gives a US-only breakdown. Sprout's main study lists its times in local time, so for a US audience its starting point is Tuesday to Thursday, 2 pm to 6 pm in your followers' time zone. Metricool's evening slots are another option to test.

  • Split coasts: Eastern time is three hours ahead of Pacific, so 7 pm in New York is 4 pm in Los Angeles. If your followers are spread out, pick a time that suits both.
  • Daylight saving: US clocks go forward on the second Sunday in March and back on the first Sunday in November. The UK changes on different dates, so for a few weeks each spring and autumn the UK is four hours ahead of New York instead of five.
  • Exceptions: Hawaii and most of Arizona don't use daylight saving time.

Best time to post on TikTok in Australia

Sprout's Australian data, listed in AEST, found the best TikTok times were spread across scattered windows rather than one clear block. Tuesday and Thursday were its best days and Sunday its worst. Evening slots came up often, such as Wednesday 8 pm to 11 pm and Tuesday 9 pm to 11 pm.

  • Daylight saving: New South Wales, Victoria, South Australia, Tasmania and the ACT use it. Queensland, Western Australia and the Northern Territory don't. In 2026 to 2027 it runs from 4 October to 4 April.
  • East coast split: during daylight saving, Brisbane is one hour behind Sydney and Melbourne.
  • Posting from the UK: an evening post in Sydney lands in the morning in the UK. You may need to schedule rather than post live.

Folzora's TikTok views also come in region-targeted versions, such as UK-based TikTok views, USA-based TikTok views and Australian TikTok views. They can add early views from the market you're aiming at. They won't fix a video that doesn't hold attention, and TikTok's rules prohibit services that artificially boost engagement, so get the content right first.

Timing matters less than you might think

TikTok says its For You feed is driven mainly by how people interact with videos: what they watch, like, share and comment on. Captions, sounds and hashtags count too. TikTok has also said that follower count and past hit videos are not direct factors. Posting time isn't on its list at all.

So a good time mainly helps your early viewers, often your followers, see the video while they're on the app. If they watch it and react, it has a better chance of going further. A weak video posted at the perfect hour will still struggle. If your numbers are falling, why are my TikTok views low covers the usual causes. If views drop suddenly across every slot, is it a TikTok shadowban explains how to check. For what does count, see how to get on the TikTok For You page.

A simple four-week test

  1. Pick two or three slots. Choose them from your analytics peaks, or from the study times above if your charts are empty.
  2. Rotate them. Post similar types of video in each slot for three to four weeks so the comparison is fair.
  3. Compare like for like. After a few days, compare views, average watch time, shares and new followers for each slot. You can change the date range in TikTok Studio to match your test.
  4. Work out engagement rate. Raw views favour whichever slot had your best video. Engagement rate is a fairer way to compare.
  5. Keep the winner, keep checking. Audiences change, so look at your active times again every month or two.

Posting regularly also helps, because your activity charts and test results get more reliable as you build data. Frequently asked questions

What is the best time to post on TikTok?

It depends on your audience. The most reliable answer is shortly before your followers are most active, which you can see in TikTok Studio under Analytics. 2026 studies disagree: Sprout Social found weekday afternoons best, Metricool found evenings, and Buffer found Sunday morning.

What day is best to post on TikTok?

Studies don't agree. Sprout Social's 2026 data favoured Tuesday to Thursday and rated Sunday the worst day, while Buffer's 2026 data ranked Saturday first. Sprout's UK data picked Thursday, and its Australian data Tuesday and Thursday. Check the by-day chart in your own TikTok analytics too.

What is the best time to post on TikTok in the UK?

Sprout Social's UK data found the best windows were Wednesdays from 3 pm to 11 pm and Mondays and Thursdays from 4 pm to midnight, UK time. Thursday was the best day and Saturday the worst. Use that as a first test, then check your own analytics.

What is the best time to post on TikTok in Australia?

Sprout Social's Australian data, in AEST, found scattered windows rather than one block, with many in the evening. Tuesday and Thursday were the best days and Sunday the worst. Remember Queensland doesn't use daylight saving, so Brisbane is an hour behind Sydney in summer.

How do I see when my followers are active on TikTok?

Open TikTok Studio from your profile menu, then open Analytics. The Followers tab shows activity by hour and day. Some versions also have a Viewers tab with most active times for the last 7 days.

Is TikTok analytics in my time zone or UTC?

Guides disagree, and it may vary by app version. Check the label on the chart. If it is unclear, compare a peak with your phone's clock before planning around it.

Does posting time affect the TikTok algorithm?

TikTok doesn't list posting time as a ranking factor. Its For You feed mainly uses how people interact with videos. A good time just helps your first viewers see the video while they are online, which can help it get those early interactions.
