TikTok gifts are paid for with coins, and a coin costs a viewer roughly 1 to 1.5 US cents, depending on whether they buy on the website or in the app. A Rose costs 1 coin (about a cent), a Galaxy costs 1,000 coins (about $10 to $14) and a Lion costs 29,999 coins (about $317 to $424, or roughly £285 to £365 in the UK). The creator does not get all of that. Gifts become Diamonds, and TikTok has said it shares 50% of its net revenue from virtual items with creators, after app store and payment fees come off. In practice a creator ends up with roughly a fifth to a half of what the viewer spent, and usually well under half.
How TikTok gifts work: coins, gifts and Diamonds
TikTok's LIVE gifting runs on three virtual items. Each one moves in one direction only.
- Viewers buy coins. Coins are bought with real money in the app or at tiktok.com/coin. Under TikTok's Virtual Items Policy you must be 18 or over (or the age of majority where you live) to buy them. Coins can't be turned back into cash or passed to someone else.
- Viewers spend coins on gifts. During a LIVE, a viewer taps the gift icon, picks a gift and sends it. The gift shows up on screen in the LIVE. Gifts are final: TikTok does not refund them.
- Gifts become Diamonds for the creator. When a gift lands, it is converted into Diamonds in the creator's account. TikTok describes Diamonds as a measure of a creator's popularity. Nobody can buy Diamonds, and they can't be swapped back into coins.
- Creators withdraw Diamonds as money. Eligible creators can withdraw Diamonds as a payout in US dollars, for example to PayPal. TikTok sets the conversion rate and can change it. Daily withdrawal limits apply and TikTok may ask you to verify your identity and age.
Popular TikTok gift values
Here are some well-known LIVE gifts and their coin cost, with what they cost a US viewer and a rough guide to what the creator receives. We only list gifts where independent price lists agree on the coin cost. Gifts come and go, and some are only offered in certain regions or for limited events.
| Gift | Coins | Viewer pays (approx.) | Creator receives (approx.) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Rose | 1 | About $0.01 | Under $0.01 |
| Finger Heart | 5 | $0.05 to $0.07 | $0.01 to $0.03 |
| Doughnut | 30 | $0.32 to $0.42 | $0.08 to $0.16 |
| Confetti | 100 | $1.06 to $1.41 | $0.25 to $0.53 |
| Galaxy | 1,000 | $10.60 to $14.10 | $2.50 to $5.30 |
| Planet | 15,000 | $159 to $212 | $37 to $79 |
| Lion | 29,999 | $317 to $424 | $75 to $159 |
Small gifts like a Rose or a Finger Heart are a cheap way for a viewer to say thanks. Big gifts like the Lion cost hundreds of dollars, so expect them to be rare.
How much is a Rose on TikTok?
A Rose costs 1 coin, so a viewer pays about 1 cent in the US, or about 1p in the UK. It turns into half a Diamond for the creator, which is worth less than a cent. Roses add up when lots of viewers send them, and some LIVE matches count Roses only.
How much is a Galaxy on TikTok?
A Galaxy costs 1,000 coins. That is about $10.60 to $14.10 for a US viewer, or roughly £9.50 to £12.15 in the UK, based on the reported UK pack prices below. The creator gets about 500 Diamonds, worth an estimated $2.50 to $5.30.
How much is a Lion on TikTok in dollars and pounds?
A Lion costs 29,999 coins. A US viewer pays about $317 on the website or $424 in the app. UK coin packs were reported in 2026 at about £6.65 for 700 coins in one guide and £0.79 for 65 coins in another, which puts a Lion at roughly £285 to £365. The creator gets about 15,000 Diamonds, worth an estimated $75 to $159 before any currency conversion.
How much is a TikTok Universe worth?
The Universe is usually listed as the most expensive gift, but price lists don't agree on its cost. Some list it at 34,999 coins and others at 44,999 coins. At US prices that is somewhere between about $370 and $635 for the viewer, depending on which figure is right and where the coins were bought. The creator would get roughly $87 to $238. Check the gift tray in your own app for the current cost.
How much does a creator get from a gift?
Since February 2023, TikTok has said it shares with creators 50% of its net revenue from virtual items, after taking off payments to app stores, payment processors and other adjustments under its terms. So the starting point is half, and it is half of what is left after fees, not half of what the viewer paid.
TikTok doesn't publish a fixed cash value per Diamond, and its Virtual Items Policy says TikTok sets the rate and can change it. Creator guides and calculators commonly report about 1 Diamond for every 2 coins gifted, and between about half a cent and one cent per Diamond. That is why the table shows a range. The real figure depends on where the viewer bought their coins, which app store took a cut, and the rate TikTok applies when you withdraw.
TikTok Diamonds to USD, GBP, AUD and CAD
TikTok's Virtual Items Policy says Diamond withdrawals are valued in US dollars. If you want the money in another currency, such as pounds, Australian dollars or Canadian dollars, the policy says this may be possible through PayPal or another payment channel, under that service's own terms and fees. The policy also says the withdrawal rate is shown at the point you withdraw.
So the simplest way to estimate Diamonds in your own currency is to work out the dollar figure first, then convert it at today's exchange rate. Using the commonly reported range of about half a cent to one cent per Diamond, 10,000 Diamonds is roughly $50 to $100. Our TikTok coin calculator does this for you and can show the result in your local currency.
How much do creators make from TikTok battles?
A TikTok battle is a LIVE match: two creators or teams compete for five minutes, and the side with the most points at the end wins. According to TikTok's LIVE Studio guide, each coin of gifts counts as one match point and each like counts as three. The host can choose whether all gifts count or only certain ones, such as Roses.
That means a Lion sent during an all-gift match adds 29,999 points. TikTok's match guide doesn't describe a separate prize for winning, so the money still comes from the gifts themselves, using the same estimates as above. Matches can push viewers to spend more than they meant to, so set yourself a limit if you are the one sending gifts.
Who can receive gifts on TikTok LIVE?
Not every creator can collect Diamonds. According to TikTok, to turn on LIVE Gifts you need to:
- Be at least 18 years old (19 in South Korea).
- Be eligible to go LIVE. See how many followers you need to go live on TikTok.
- Live in a country or region where LIVE Gifts are available.
- Keep your account in good standing and follow TikTok's rules.
Government, politician and political party accounts, and some other public interest accounts, can't collect Diamonds through LIVE Gifts.
How to get more gifts on your LIVEs
Gifts come from people who enjoy your stream enough to pay for it. There is no trick that replaces that. These habits help:
- Go LIVE on a regular schedule. Viewers who know when you'll be on are more likely to come back, and returning viewers are the ones most likely to gift.
- Talk to your viewers. Read comments out, answer questions and thank people by name when they send something, small gifts included.
- Give the stream a purpose. A tutorial, a challenge, a Q&A or a creative session gives people a reason to stay and take part.
- Never pressure people to gift. Constant requests for gifts tend to put viewers off. Make the stream worth watching and let gifts follow.
- Grow the audience that sees your LIVE. More followers means more people who might see and join your LIVE each time.
If you want a head start on that last point, Folzora offers TikTok followers with no password required. Be realistic about it, though. A larger follower count can help a new account look established, but bought followers don't send gifts. The people who gift are the ones who enjoy your content, so the content has to come first. Does TikTok take 50% of gifts?

No. TikTok's Virtual Items Policy says all sales of gifts are final. Coins can't be exchanged for cash either, so only buy what you plan to use.
